This week, GameLab made an inspiring visit to Game Tailors, creators of educational serious games that make the world a better place.
Co-owner Bowie Derwort showed us around the company and explained its history and award-winning games, such as KlankKr8, winner of a Dutch Game Award in 2023. Game Tailors' games are fun to play and have a positive impact on people's lives.
In a workshop, we had the opportunity to put together a small game ourselves using the LeerPlus platform. The challenge was to explain a simple action, which involves more than you might think. Suppose you want to turn on a TV: first you need to know what a TV is, then that you need a remote control, where to find it, that you must pick it up and then press the correct button.
The morning ended with lunch together. For the students, a behind-the-scenes look at a real games company was inspiring.
