HBO-ICT and GameLab are attending the Technology Festival at the Caballerofabriek in The Hague. Over two days, more than 1500 upper-primary and lower-MAVO pupils will find inspiration for their future studies.

The GameLab Arcade has been brought in especially for the occasion. It offers games made by students at The Hague University of Applied Sciences. The cabinet is very popular with the pupils, who are astonished to hear that, with the right study profile, they too could make games like these.

The cabinet contains several games, and it is interesting to see which ones appeal most. Radial Overdrive, the game that won the previous exhibition, is the most popular, followed by Penguin Panic and Spider Spell. But the children give every game some screen time.

The GameLab Arcade is an excellent showcase for games education at The Hague University of Applied Sciences. Originally built for Dutch Game Garden, the cabinet was restored and reconfigured by students from The Hague University of Applied Sciences after that organisation closed. It now offers games made within the degree programme.

Whatever study route these pupils choose, they now know that making games can be a real profession, and that you can create impressive things while still at school.
