Two games originating in The Hague University of Applied Sciences' games programme made a strong impression last month: Bismuth Studios' Space Gourmet: Delivery and team K-US's Yokai.
Space Gourmet: Delivery pitched to the Midgame Fund, a fund whose participants come from the games industry. Not every game can pitch here: pitches are screened in advance, so making the selection was already a major achievement for the team.
Although several investors pledged money, the requested amount was unfortunately not raised. There was, however, no criticism of the game. The investment climate is simply poor at present. Bismuth is not giving up and will explore other ways to bring Space Gourmet to market.
Like Space Gourmet, Yokai was developed in the Game Development minor. It did not win the Expo, but the student team refused to be discouraged and submitted it to the Dutch Game Awards. Although they did not win a prize, they passed the first selection stage and are listed among entries from institutions including BUas and HKU. Quite an achievement.
