INDIGO 2025 on 27 and 28 May: a new chapter for the Dutch games industry. INDIGO has long been the Netherlands' leading game development event. But in 2025 it felt different. It lasted two days for the first time, took place in Rotterdam and was organised by an entirely new team.
From uncertainty to renewed momentum
After Dutch Game Garden (DGG) closed in 2024, INDIGO's future was uncertain. DGG had been the driving force behind the event for years. Thankfully, things moved quickly. A joint effort relaunched the event under a new foundation: the Benelux Games Promotional Initiative (BGPI).
The Municipality of Rotterdam stepped in, as did the Flemish Audiovisual Fund (VAF) and the Dutch Games Association (DGA). Together, they breathed new life into INDIGO. The 2024 edition had already been promising, so expectations for 2025 were high.
New energy in the heart of Rotterdam
Those expectations were met. INDIGO 2025 took place at the World Trade Center in central Rotterdam, a wonderful venue that gave the event a fresh, professional appearance. Tickets sold out completely, and the showcase floor was once again full of innovative, creative games from makers in the Netherlands and abroad.
GameLab attended both days with eight students, alumni and supervisors from The Hague University of Applied Sciences. Students attended inspiring talks, played games, found inspiration and networked. We can look back on a highly successful event and hope to secure a showcase place ourselves next year.
