Following Dutch Game Garden’s closure, showcase cabinets previously used at the INDIGO exhibition became available. GameLab managed to acquire one.
The cabinet dates from 2010, INDIGO’s early years. It has two screens and spaces for a keyboard, mouse and controllers, designed for showcasing games.
At GameLab, our first step will be to refurbish it: after 15 years, it has sustained some damage. We then want to use it to present games made at The Hague University of Applied Sciences, accessible through a menu. For example, the best games from the Game Development Minor could have a permanent showcase here. Students will start working on this soon.
We will give the cabinet a good spot in the lab and use it at open days and the EXPO. Many thanks to DGG for choosing to give the cabinets a second life in this way.
Incidentally, despite DGG’s closure, the INDIGO exhibition will still go ahead this year. The Dutch Games Association has taken over its organisation with partners. Showcase cabinets will be used there too, but these are newer models.
