At the Dutch Games Association’s invitation, the Dutch Game Awards jury tested games eligible for an award at the Dutch Innovation Factory on Wednesday 22 October.
These were specifically games requiring on-site testing, because their special gameplay cannot easily be replicated at home. They included student games using VR and Pillo, a cushion developed by Hulan.
The VR game is Final Arena by Robin van Taarling, developed at GameLab. The games using Pillo are Wiebeltoren and Meer Momo, made by Fontys ICT students.
These games are competing for the Student Award alongside entries from institutions including HKU and BUas. They are being assessed by games industry experts Tomas Sala, Kela van der Deijl and Lucia de Visser.
Of course, we hope Robin secures a nomination! His solo-developed game is a remarkable achievement, earning the highest grade ever awarded on the games programme. A Dutch Game Award would certainly look good in his trophy cabinet.
