Three pupils from Technasium Melanchthon Bergschenhoek have started a project to build a purpose-built arcade cabinet for GameLab.

Their assignment is to build a cabinet for playing games made at The Hague University of Applied Sciences. They visited the lab to examine the existing cabinet and discuss the specifications.

Their cabinet must be easy to move so it can be taken to events, something that is difficult with the current arcade cabinet.

This is a talented group of pupils. They previously made a game for the Maritime Museum in Rotterdam, much to the museum’s satisfaction. That game may also be expanded further, but keeping a close eye on scope is important.

At GameLab, they carefully examined what arcade cabinets should look like. They asked plenty of questions, then found inspiration in the mini arcade, which contains original cabinets from the National Videogame Museum. This gives them a good start on the project.
