At the Dutch Innovation Factory, Gummy Games, the team behind Malllow Mystery, won the award for best game. At the Grote Expo, they made the strongest impression on the jury, comprising lecturers and representatives of the Dutch Games Association and Miniclip Nederland.
Mallow Mystery is a detective game featuring interesting characters and a colourful story. A murder has been committed in the candy town of Dulton, and you must search for clues. Everything seems sweet and bright on the surface, but shady things are happening in the city's depths. The game's tagline is: “In a sweet world, bitter things can happen”.
The jury praised the game's extensive scope. Mallow Mystery can be completed in no fewer than seven ways. A credit to the team, who delivered it in just twenty weeks. What I particularly like is that one member of this winning team is continuing at GameLab to work on another exciting game.
Competition was strong, because a game called Unwashable also made an impression. In this game, you play a sock that does not want to be washed and must escape the big, bad washing machine.
GameLab at the exhibition
GameLab attended this Expo with GymSim, Penguin Panic and Benjamin & Carol: Mystery of the Scarab. It was a great opportunity to gauge reactions and put GameLab's activities in the spotlight.
The next Grote Expo takes place on 21 July. Sign up here to stay informed.
