A delegation from MBO Rijnland and its partners visited GameLab as part of a hackathon at the Dutch Innovation Factory. We gave them a tour of the lab and showed two projects.

The visit generated enthusiasm and ideas for involving vocational students more closely in the lab. Although GameLab is an initiative of The Hague University of Applied Sciences, students from all programmes can contribute to its projects.

Vocational students can contribute, for example, by creating 3D models, testing games (QA), making prototypes to try out concepts, and generating assets with or without AI tools.

The best way to introduce the lab is to highlight its projects. Bram Mulders spoke about his game in development, Realm of Relics, which involves solving puzzles in a museum. Erik Straathof showed how GymSim, a sports hall simulation or digital twin, will help HALO prepare physical education lessons.

From Monday 22 to 26 April, mboRijnland is organising a hackathon at the Dutch Innovation Factory (DIF) in Zoetermeer. It focuses on software development and is intended for first-year ICT students in the software developer programme. Zoetermeer alderwoman Marijke van der Meer opened the hackathon on Monday afternoon.
