How do you begin making your own game? More than 30 first-year Application Development students from mboRijnland visited GameLab to start their new project. Over the coming weeks, they will develop a game themselves. During the visit, they found inspiration, explored examples and could immediately work on their assignment.

GameLab Manager Jeroen Derwort spoke about his experiences with Gamebasics and Online Soccer Manager (OSM). OSM began as a personal project in 2001 and grew into a game played by millions. Through this story, Jeroen showed how a game idea can develop over the years. He also showed various game examples to help the students get started.

After the presentation, the students could get to work themselves. They explored GameLab's arcade, played games and began working on their own projects. A fitting start to the coming weeks: play, exchange ideas and then make something other people can play.

We are curious to see which games the mboRijnland students develop. Good luck over the coming weeks!
