mboRijnland students had two weeks to make games in JavaScript. At a celebratory evening on Thursday 30 October, they presented their work, with GameLab's Milano Hoogvliets attending to view and assess their games.
The games had to be made without a game engine, and time was short. Working in groups, students could divide the tasks. With limited resources, keeping the scope small and realistic was especially important. Before this game jam, the students had visited GameLab, and GameLab Manager Jeroen Derwort had visited the groups to discuss their initial ideas.

Despite the constraints, the students presented enjoyable games. These included an Overcooked-style game, a narrative game and a stick run game.
Making games is both fun and difficult. It calls on creativity and problem-solving ability. Doing this within a short period teaches students a tremendous amount. GameLab therefore enjoys supporting projects like these at every level.
