It is Easter, the moment penguin lovers worldwide have been eagerly awaiting. Why? Penguin Panic is now available on Steam. 🐣 🐧

Penguin Panic is the learning project of GameLab Managers Jeroen and Bowie Derwort. They wanted to make something their children, then aged 6, 8 and 10, would enjoy.

The game became a kind of Mario with a penguin: a 2D platformer. Even with this limited scope, it took several years because they could only spend a few hours a week on it.

That makes it especially satisfying finally to press the "publish" button! The game is now available for Windows, Mac, Linux and Steam Deck.

It has been an educational project in which they experienced a modern indie game development process from start to finish. Alongside developing the game, they are partly publishing it themselves to gain experience of that too. This helps GameLab better support students making indie games . Penguin Panic was developed in Unity.

You can read the story of how the game came about in this blog post.

Or head straight to Steam and download Penguin Panic.

For Bowie, releasing this game also marks his departure from GameLab. His contribution has come to an end. We thank him enormously for all his efforts!
