The Game Basement is a space at the bottom of the Dutch Innovation Factory that houses student games studios. Seven teams started nine weeks ago, and today was the first opportunity to play their games.

Although the students' games are still in their infancy at this stage, it is an ideal time to gather feedback. This applies both to students taking the Game Development minor and to students affiliated with GameLab.

Various projects were available to try, including Realm of Relics, a puzzle game set in a museum. Unsane Interactive presented a VR game in which you pilot a mech and slaughter hordes of robots.

From the minor, we saw titles such as Spider Spell, Oh My Cult, Smooth Soup and Yokai. The basement was once again full of creative energy.

After this playtest, the studios will have a second opportunity to validate their work in four weeks' time. Then they must prepare for the main exhibition, the moment of truth at which they will be assessed.
