GameLab hosted the Quantum Game Jam over the weekend of 13–15 September. Various universities and research institutions participate in this global event. The Dutch Innovation Factory was also a physical venue. The Game Jam was organised by The Hague University of Applied Sciences and Leiden University.

The Quantum Game Jam aims to make quantum theory more accessible and explain it, in this case by incorporating it into a game.

Despite considerable advance promotion, many students found the subject challenging: only a handful began this game jam.

At the kick-off, the theme was announced: "entanglement". GameLab students helped generate ideas. Participants then continued as a single team and ultimately submitted a game: a digital representation of a card game incorporating quantum principles and entanglement.
