About TrustPort

TrustPort is a cybersecurity war-simulation game for the port, developed with the Cyber Security Living Lab (CSyLL) at The Hague University of Applied Sciences.

TrustPort was originally based on a physical board game used by the research group for internal training. Players take on roles within the port ecosystem — Harbour Master, SOC Analyst, Pilot, Communications Adviser, Captain and Terminal Operator — and navigate a cyber crisis together. The PDCA cycle and the five Cs — Command, Control, Communication, Coordination and Cooperation — provide the educational framework.

GameLab students created an initial game prototype in semester 2025/02. This prototype was used to secure funding for the project’s further development.

From semester 2027/01, starting in September 2026, a team of GameLab students led by Maarten Yntema will continue developing this project commissioned by Professor Peter Roelofsma.
