A new version of VisionOT went live on 14 November. This indie game is being developed at GameLab by Jakub Aleksandrowicz. Around 300 players have played since launch, with an average of 170 daily active users.
VisionOT has existed for several years and has a community of more than 1000 players who play from time to time. Players can make in-game purchases, helping to pay for VisionOT's servers and further development.
Because VisionOT is a live service game, launching it was a major undertaking requiring considerable preparation. The champagne could not be opened straight away when it went live. There were bugs to fix, crashes and even a hacker attempting to hold the servers hostage with DDoS attacks.
Jakub worked feverishly to get all the issues under control. Now that everything is running stably, he can finally enjoy his achievement for a moment. Then, of course, it will be straight back to expanding and upgrading the game.
Open Tibia
The game is based on Open Tibia, often abbreviated to OT. This is a community-made, open-source variant of the classic MMORPG Tibia. It consists of two components:
1. OTServ (Open Tibia Server)
A custom server that copies or expands Tibia's gameplay. Anyone can run such a server, often with their own rules, custom monsters, modified map, higher XP rates and so on.
2. OTClient
An alternative game client developed by the community, allowing players to log in to these custom servers.
About VisionOT
VisionOT is an MMORPG inspired by ARPGs such as Diablo, Path of Exile and Last Epoch. Jakub has made extensive modifications to the original engine code, written in C++. This makes his OT version unique. Other Tibia variants can be found online, such as RobinOT.
VisionOT began in 2019 as an Open Tibia server, but has evolved every year since, moving increasingly away from its Tibia origins towards a fully developed ARPG experience. It is built for players who enjoy freedom, offering endless customisation and the ability to create truly unique playstyles.
For those who enjoy grinding for powerful items, hunting rare drops and perfecting min-max builds, VisionOT offers a deep progression system in which every piece of equipment and every stat can make a difference. Whether you want to push efficiency to its limits or simply experiment with creative setups, the game rewards dedication and skill.
People who have never played a Tibia game will probably find VisionOT difficult to understand. Jakub is therefore also creating a tutorial for new players. But if you are curious, you can already try VisionOT. Click here to play.
