At GameLab, we took part in a VR workshop led by Dennie Bastiaan, CEO of Tellick. We were given access to Tellick’s platform Scenebrook, where you can create immersive VR experiences without writing code.

After a short introduction, we started building. Although the tool offers a huge range of possibilities, it is easy to get started. Pairs of students worked on creating small escape rooms. Scenebrook offers plenty of freedom and flexibility: objects for a scene can, for example, be downloaded freely from public sources. Within fifteen minutes, the students already had an idea of what they wanted to make and a working scene in Scenebrook.
Next, we tested the experiences with VR headsets. Tellick had brought several Quest 3 headsets. The magic of virtual reality transforms the flat image developed on screen into an immersive experience. After an hour of experimenting, the games were still in their infancy, but they were already playable and all very different.

An interesting discussion arose about the possibilities of VR and which of them Scenebrook supports. The tool has been in development for years and is designed to translate clients’ needs easily into relevant VR experiences. Simplicity has been considered throughout, as have interaction in the virtual world and the potential for motion sickness.
Tellick has developed a particularly effective platform for anyone wanting to create a virtual reality experience. The fact that students with no prior knowledge of the tool could create something so quickly shows how powerful Scenebrook is.
